The Ring That Symbolizes Forever
An eternity ring — also called an eternity band or infinity ring — features diamonds set continuously around the entire circumference of the band. The unbroken circle of diamonds symbolizes eternal love and commitment. It is one of the most meaningful and beautiful ring designs in fine jewelry.
Full Eternity vs Half Eternity
- Full eternity: Diamonds set all the way around — 360 degrees. Maximum sparkle from every angle. The diamond circle is complete and unbroken
- Half eternity: Diamonds set across the top half (approximately 180 degrees) with plain metal on the bottom. Still sparkles from the front but more comfortable and less expensive. Can also be resized (full eternity cannot)
- Three-quarter eternity: Diamonds cover approximately 270 degrees — a compromise between full and half. More sparkle than half, slightly less than full
When to Give an Eternity Ring
- Anniversary milestone: The most traditional occasion. 5th, 10th, or 25th anniversary eternity rings are classic gifts that say your love has endured and your commitment is renewed
- Push present: Given after the birth of a child to celebrate the arrival of a new family member. The eternity ring represents the eternal nature of the bond between parent and child

Choosing Your Eternity Ring
- Diamond size: Eternity rings are available with diamond sizes ranging from tiny (0.01 ct each, approximately 1.3mm) to substantial (0.25 ct each, approximately 4mm). Smaller diamonds create a delicate look; larger diamonds create dramatic sparkle
- Total carat weight: 0.50-1.00 TCW for subtle elegance. 1.00-3.00 TCW for visible sparkle. 3.00+ TCW for maximum impact
- Setting type: Prong (maximum sparkle, slightly raised), channel (smooth surface, excellent protection), bezel (maximum protection, modern look), shared prong (allows maximum light, minimal metal)
- Band width: 1.5-2.5mm for delicate (stacks well). 3.0-4.0mm for visible presence. 4.0mm+ for a statement eternity ring
Important: Sizing
- Full eternity rings cannot be resized. The diamonds all the way around prevent the ring from being cut and resized. The size must be perfect at purchase
- Half eternity rings can be resized within a small range because the plain metal portion can be cut
- Tip: If you are uncertain about long-term size (fingers change over years), choose a half eternity for flexibility
